I've started a new job and learned that health insurance doesn't allow for out-of-network coverage. I've never heard of this before, but as I'm working for a hospital, I can understand. However, I'm not comfortable with this for many reasons and want to get my own coverage. Has anyone experienced this and if so how did you approach this with HR? I'm hoping they provide an allowance if I choose my own coverage.
