Hi,
My company has been talking about downsizing to reduce costs and I fear my position would likely be eliminated.
I started working in 2023, and I am currently 20 weeks pregnant. I work in administration and data entry so I am hesitant about telling my manager especially now that the company is looking to cut down expenses.
Would it make sense to wait until I am farther along before informing my manager or would telling them help to “secure” my job? - based on pregnancy discrimination act
PS: I work remotely and I need this job as it’s flexible and has great benefits for maternity leave and time off for FMLA. Please advise, thank you!

Look up W.A.R.N. for your state (if in the USA). That will help u get an idea of the number of ppl they're laying off.
I will say it is customary these days to force RTO b4 going to layoffs as no company wants to advertise a layoff. RTO will usually take care of the work for them as employees in your position will usually seek another job vs RTO. With that being said I would say things look good for u to remain, but I do not know the ideologies or culture of your organization. You'll have to consider that and apply as necessary to your circumstances.

Who are you talking to about the potential layoffs? It may not in your dept or your position. Being pregnant does not secure your job. You can tell them now or later. It’s up to you. If you are being laid off and they haven’t announced they won’t tell you anything about the packages and you can’t demand benefits. Do your best work and don’t worry about it.
