I recently learned that my employer will be acquired by another company later this year. We've been provided a lot of information and they've faced a lot of internal questions about our future.
I'd be interested in hearing from anyone here in this community with advice or insight from experience. If anyone has been through this before please suggest how to survive this. There's a lot of uncertainty now so I keep my eyes and ears open. Thank you.

I've been through this many times.
It's been my experience that key people are brought in early on to assist with due diligence.
Once there is an agreement in place and transition timelines are agreed to,, then details are shared more globally. Your questions will most likely be filtered through channels, first by supervisors and middle management. The answers will likely be broad at first because there will need to be a lot of planning involved and impact discussion. Depending on your level of responsibility, you will be brought into these discussions as needed. Uncertainty will continue for much of the transition as things get sorted out depending on how autonomous your company will remain and whether the merger was initiated and controlled by your company or will your company be merged into an existing company.

This is a great question. I've been through this a couple times as well. First, I'd recommend to continue to be calm about the situation which can probably help others as well who may become fearful about their jobs. The common idea, practice or in some cases the opposite - misconceptions is that the company who is the "acquirer" usually has the upper hand in vital decisions going forward, such as roles (people in the roles), the org design and structure, etc. However, I would not become fearful about this as you mentioned you are part of the "acquired" company. This is because you don't really know yet, what was agreed to in this transaction, any agreements that were made to be acquired, etc. There will likely be a plan which includes a timeline that will be shared at some point when it's ready to be made public.
