I've noticed that many of these posts focus on personal appearance from long hair to make-up . In the article about hair the first thing that jumped out at me that it is unprofessional for older woman to have longer hair. I've read so many magazines that say older women should have shorter hair because it makes them look younger. Are people so focused on our looks that they ignore our skills and credentials as women. These articles perpetuate what women should look like to be considered professional. We have to break this norm. As an African American woman I am so afraid to wear my afro and my kinky/natural hair because so many people don't consider it professional. Thousands of laws can be placed on the books to protect women and especially women of color from this ;however, it doesn't change the everyday reality of dealing with these issues, proving that this is an issue, or enforcing these non discriminatory laws.
