The coronavirus-triggered lockdown has posed a lot of challenges for women professionals especially, as they struggle to manage the work-life balance. Our company has no clear guidelines from companies on how to work from home but if I’m receiving calls from my boss after 5pm (usually 6-8pm), and I don’t want to answer –– nor do I think my boss should put me in the place to answer unless it’s incredibly urgent.
I also struggle with this when it comes to online communication in general. I think communication via calls (and even messaging!) can wait. I believe if colleagues, my boss, or my team has something to say, it can also wait. Because after work hours should be respected.
Curious, how would/do you deal with unwanted calls at weird hours like this? Are you dealing with late-night messaging as well? Do you think it’s an okay way to communicate or do you think differently? I would love to hear more opinions! TY!
