Reaching out to a connection that was recently laid off from the company
I have one connection at a company in which I have a final interview approaching. We worked together years ago when she was a leader at my former company (three heads above me) and I was in a supporting role. She was a mentor to me and helped coach me to progress within the company. We weren't close by any means, but I admired her and her rise to the top. I thought about reaching out to her to get her take on this new opportunity - but I found out that she was recently let go along with her entire team. How should I approach this? Is it even appropriate to reach out on this? While I'd like her take and feedback, I want to be respectful.
