I guess it partly depends on what your long term goal is. If it's solely money your after, I guess the current recommendation is to change jobs every two years. When you are no longer enjoying the work you do (assuming at one point you did), it's time to change. If you aren't feeling secure in your company or your role, it's time to change. If you aren't getting growth/promotion opportunities you think you are ready for, it's time to change.
