walking away from a comfortable salary with an excellent title at a giant tech company with great benefits. am i crazy?
Job #1 is a field that is really exciting and could help me pivot to do more within this industry, but the base salary is lower than my current role (even though I've been assured my OTE will provide what I expect) and the title is the same as my current job. Also there is only 6 weeks mat leave.
Job #2 is in a new industry also with a new title that would definitely make my resume stand out. They are willing to offer me what could be the opportunity of a lifetime - to gain highly technical experience and skills and learn from some of the most talented tech people in the world. However, I'm not excited about a career path in product and not sure how useful these new skills will be in the future. I'm also not too excited about the day to day. Their benefits are spectacular. They offer 6 months maternity leave.
After some thoughtful soul-searching, I've nearly decided to tell Job#2 a professional "thanks, but not for me" response, but it would be great to hear from others. How do you know when a decision is the right one?

I'm a bigger believer in following your passion. What's trendy in terms of job skills and resume enhancers will change so much (especially in today's world). In my opinion, it's better to do what you excites you and makes you feel alive. When you're showing up in a job you love, you tend to perform better and progress faster. Benefits and all the other bonuses are great but don't mean much when you're miserable everyday. So it seems like you made the right choice - congrats on the new opportunity!
