Let me start this off by saying: I work hard. Unfortunately, my hard work hasn't translated to flexibility at my job, even though I'm reliable and have worked here three years. It's just not in the culture. So the other day, I was starting to feel burnt out and decided to call in sick and treat myself to a day off. I went and got my nails done, met a friend for lunch, read a book. It was great. The next day I got to work and one of my coworkers asked if I was feeling any better. I said I was. She said, "Good! Oh, and the manicure looks GREAT by the way" — with this smug look on her face like she'd caught me red handed or something. I'm annoyed — there was no reason for her to feel the need to weigh in like that — but also worried. What if she says something to our boss?? What do I do??
