How to not be the Crazy Cat Lady ?

My cat Lightening brought home a house guest last month, We have tried to find the owner to no avail. Now I am trying to adopt him out as our house is full. He is not chipped or neutered. I scheduled him to be neutered thru Street Cat Hub, and they will do his shots, making him more adoptable, he is cute and cuddly, not a feral kitten, maybe 10 months old. I pick him up tomorrow night and think I have a home for him. I was shocked to find over 30 kittens lined up for neutering and spaying, some friendly and some very feral as they have a catch and release program. It is hard for me to not want to bring them all home to feed and care for. If I lived out in country I would have more than 2 animals. Why are people not responsible and fixing their animals. The homeless animal population is as sad as the human homeless population.

I just love cats period. Where but a cathouse can you have a christmas party where three adoptions take place and no one gets all that mad when someone pees in the snack bowl (caught on video)?

It makes me so sad. I’m on my way to becoming a “crazy dog lady” with my three. My youngest dog was an “accident.” (Coerced rescue/foster fail.) I’d love to get a bunch of seniors though because they are my favorite!

As well: many cats are happier with a cat companion, especially if they have bonded at a shelter or are siblings. If you are able, consider adopting two cats, instead of just one.

All of my cats have been abandoned or in shelters and in need of a home. My two current cats started life as ferals. They were taken in by a rescue organization and came to us at ~5 months old. They have grown into sweet and energetic cats— exceptionally playful and vibrant. They are dearly loved. Many feral cats— especially when adopted as kittens— can be wonderful pets. Those who rescue feral cats are doing important work.

Yes, help break the cycle ! I really believe n the TNR programs, but catching the kittens when young and trying to tame them for adoption helps diminish the homeless population.

We donate monthly to ASPCA and to a local no-kill shelter so that we can hopefully help other animals beyond the two we are able to care for in our house. It is heartbreaking how many pets are looking for home out there, but if you live in an urban environment, I suggest getting in touch with a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) if you have feral/semi-feral cats about in your neighborhood. Help break the cycle!

My cats have all been feral cats thru out my life. I had 2 females that lived to be 34 and 35 years old ! I always have 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 cats. Nickel was a "roadkill" that I saved ; Fred was a feral city-dweller cat....he has Cerebral Palsy (ironic, I was on the board of United Cerebral Palsy for years); Midnight was a feral cat roaming the streets for 7 years....took my dauhter in law 7 months to catch him ! They all know I love 'em. They have a great home here. Feeding TWO cats is as easy as feeding one and not more expensive.

God bless your heart and I agree...its so tragic. That's why I can't go into any kind of animal shelter. It's not so bad to be a cat lady under the circumstances!!
