Where to go from here...

I had no idea what I wanted to do when I graduated from college, so I took the first job offered, which I got with the help of a professor. Shortly after starting the position I realized working in procurement did not make me excited and was not the path I wanted to continue. Being a parent of two I knew I needed to at least stick it out for a year just to be sure I was making the right decision. A year in I was promoted and promised a 30% raise, which would have been life changing/ would have been incentive enough for me to continue with that job. Unfortunately, there were changes happening in the executive roles that affected my raise dramatically and I decided to put my two week notice in. My manager decided not to let me work out the two weeks and here I am; unemployed with little to no experience. I know now what I do not want to do, but it makes it difficult to get the job I do want with out the experience and having to explain why I left my previous job. Are internships out of the question now that I have been out of school a year?

Can you go back to your school for some more help with job placement? that would be the first place I started. Even if they say no on the phone, if possible, go there in person and tell them your situation. It's harder to say no to someone standing in front of you.
