Brand new to FGB here, hoping to learn all I can about reentering the jobs market. I have twenty years of experience as an Executive Assistant, I am an Air Force veteran, and am just happy as a clam to have found this group!
Also, and I am ashamed to admit it, I have edited this post to include my huge issue: I am an older woman. I'm not ashamed to be older, just ashamed that I've allowed the job postings to make me afraid of saying so.
I've seen wording that clearly - to me at least - is discriminatory to the mature people, and am literally sick to my stomach that my wrinkles will be the only thing a potential employer sees when I am lucky enough to get an interview.
I cannot single-handedly fight the culture of sidelining mature workers. I'm smart, energetic, kind, funny and willing and able to get to work, but I am afraid I won't get the chance to prove any of that.
Is anyone else willing to talk about age discrimination or what the heck to do about it?
