Pronouns at Work

I work at a company where people have started putting their pronouns on their signature. At the end of a signature, it will say either She/Her/Hers, He/Him/His, or They/Their/Theirs. I personally identify as She/Her/Hers, but I feel weird about sharing my pronouns. Also, I'm concerned that people who identify as non-binary will be perceived differently in their emails out of the gate. How do people feel about this?

Thanks for sharing this post! Currently, I work at a large university with a student population of over 40,000 as an academic advisor. I noticed that some of my colleagues use pronouns in their email signatures. I believe it’s becoming the norm because it promotes inclusion and shows respect to gender identity.

If this is going to e the norm I really need to understand why someone would be her/him. Why would someone have the need to identify with one gender for possessive pronouns but another one for the rest or viceversa.

Sharing the pronouns you use sends a powerful message of allyship and inclusion to folks in the LGBTQIA+ community by opening the door for them to speak up about their own. It's very common on college campuses, and I'm delighted to see it spreading into the workspace.

I'm starting so see more pronouns under email signatures! Whether its through work or personal email accounts. While I haven't done this myself, I think it's wonderful to see.

It's becoming more and more standard practice at work. Adding the pronouns is a way to also make everyone feel comfortable and accepted.

I recently saw this. It appears to be an attempt at inclusion.
