Am I a naturally anxious person, or is my lifestyle making me this way?

This is question I've been debating with myself recently. I live in New York and my lifestyle is pretty fast-paced. I do what I can to incorporate self-care (yoga and relaxing/low-key dinners with close friends are big helps here!), but it's still the case that whenever I leave the city, I realize how much anxiety I physically carry with me in my day-to-day life here. I literally breathe easier when I'm away from NYC and off the merry-go-round. Is this normal???

This may be because you're a HSP and all the sensory input of NYC (regardless of stress level) really just activates all your nerves so the environment itself puts you on edge. Also, there's that whole thing with the Earth's vibrations and how when we're in cities we don't feel them and it knocks our electromagnetic fields off which impacts our nervous system/cardiovascular system, etc.

From someone who doesn't live in NYC, I could see how it could make you anxious. There's so much more to be considered every time you leave the house - not to mention a lot more commotion. What are some places where you find yourself feeling the most peaceful?

I think that this can happen no matter where you are. I get this same exact way until I consciously (and metaphorically) beat myself over the head with the fact that being anxious about things WILL NEVER CHANGE ANYTHING. I started this by taking time to meditate and remember that I have to just chill a bit and pick up where I left off.
