Need a Change in my life

I've worked McDonald's for 10 years was a manager. Then I worked at a nursing home for 3 years as a cook. As of recently I was a prep cook at a bbq joint. I need a new job but dont know how to move away from the cooking industry since that's all that's the only background I have. I do have customer service skills and cash handling skills too.

The airlines may be a place to use your skills or learn a new one. Perhaps the big companies like Tyson. I had a friend who put herself on Craigslist as a caterer and does pretty well with that. Good luck!!

Try contract dinning ...honestly anyone worth their aprons know if you worked McDonald's your a hard worker. Aramark and Compass group are both great companies I worked for Aramark for 15 years and have been with Compass's Chartwells division...higher education...I supervise a dinning hall at a private college. I promise you will love contact dinning. Meaning you are contracted to manage a cafe, c-store, and catering inside of a business. I did American family, General Motors, Humana, Oscar Mayers and now I'm at a private college.

Many years ago, I was in fast food management, as was my husband. After my first child was born, we decided that we needed at least one of us to get a M-F day job, so I went to Katherine Gibbs, which was primarily a school to learn how to be a secretary. It was a great way to get my foot in the door of the corporate world, and it was the best thing I ever did because once in the corporate world, I was able to learn new things and advance. My advice is to check options for schooling. With so many online options, you could find a way to fit it in your current, crazy retail world. If that isn’t an option, try looking into temp work as a way to build your skills if working on your day off is an option.

The best thing is to the line of job you, and based on that there is many skills and trainings you can do. But first, think, what you love most? what will make you wake up and be in rush to go to work because you have so much fun?
