Postpartum depression advice

I've got a 4-month-year-old and a 4-year-old. I've been noticing some more symptoms this time than last. The more I've talked to my mom friends about it, the more I realized how frequent and almost normal this is to experience. Moms who've experienced this, any advice?

Postpartum is really widespread, and not spoken about enough at all. I don't even think I really knew what it was until I experienced it after my second. We have some good tips here: https://fairygodboss.com/articles/working-women-with-postpartum-depression-reveal-their-secrets-to-surviving Please check them out!

Hi , yes I had experienced the same thing. I had 4 children and my depression was overwhelming. Both my parents had passed away. I had no help. The Dad was working then come home and sleep. I felt so alone. I spoke to my Dr. and he suggested a few things. I took his advice and slowly I started to feel better. I even went to a therapist. She didn't like that the father didn't make himself available for me and the kids. I was scared. I managed to get support in other ways and things did get better and they will for you too.!!

How did you get support? I guess the question is whether you can talk to friends and other family members and that's sufficient or not....

Talk to your doc. I called mine when I realized that more often than not I was worried and felt nervous for no real reason, or I was being extra short with my 4 yr old when my little one was just a few months old. My doc said it was post partum anxiety which is less talked about but she said affects about 10% of her patients. She set me up with a psychiatrist who works with post partum moms through the first 12-18 months and it was sooooo helpful. I felt like myself again shortly after calling for help and am so happy I reached out.

I went through postpartum a few years ago. I think a lot of mine was a mix between exhaustion and being overwhelmed. I almost felt isolated in a sense too. I just didn't feel like myself! Talking about it is a great way to cope. You are not alone. Thank you for sharing your story!
