Do you find you're often passed over when a man is introducing himself to people? This has happened so many times to me. Just the other day I was standing alone with my boyfriend in a very small room at a music studio and a guy walked in, shook my boyfriend's hand, and introduced himself, completely ignoring my presence. I waited about three seconds and then said, "HI, I'M SUZY" and reached out my hand, and of course he acted surprised that I was even there. I guess he automatically assumed I wasn't in the band, but even if I weren't, it shouldn't have mattered. It's a clear message of, "Ah, you're less important because you're a woman." People say it's the result of internalized misogyny but wow, it really blows my mind in situations like that, where it's just a few people!
