First foods for babies

What did you first feed your baby? Looking for ideas on what makes sense! I'm leaning towards carrots- they're a fun color, but not too sweet- and would love to hear what you did!

You can try thinned out Cream of Wheat or CoCo Wheats. Better tasting that rice cereal. You can mix in small amounts of baby applesauce for a little sweetness. Really keeps babies fuller longer.... especially overnight.

I did avocado with breastmilk with my first and bananas with my second. My first is a much better eater... maybe that's because I started my second on a sweet food. :-) I'd definitely do a veggie... And totally agree on the Munchkin spoon!

We did sweet potato and interestingly, it's still the only food my little guy doesn't love:) Avocado is another great one and banana!

I started many times with avocado. It's healthy and not too strong of a flavor and it's soft.

Yes! Avocado for the win - it’s still the only “green food” my almost four year old will happily gobble up :)

We just started solids a few weeks ago, so much fun! We first tried rice cereal and thinned it out with breast milk, baby did NOT like it and spit it out everywhere. We tried apples next and that went over much better. We’ve since tried peaches and sweet potato. If you’re spoon feeding, the munchkin gentle silicone spoons are the best!

Thanks! I'm leaning towards fruits/veggies based on my pediatrician. Sweet potato sounds like a winner too. Is your baby eating a little or a lot?

If we’re trying a new food I only give a few spoonfuls (maybe a tablespoon total?) just to gauge if there’s an allergic reaction or something. If it’s a food he’s already tried, we probably go through a small jar every day and a half. (Like 1/3 jar at breakfast and 1/3 jar at dinner.)
