Another option to look into is temp agencies to get real-world experiences.

A retail or food-service job at a local establishment, even for just a month (while you keep looking, and hang on to until you change jobs), is your stepping stone to the next, better job. Sometimes companies, art studios or non-profits offer internships or volunteer gigs that can serve the same purpose. You'll get professional recommendations from supervisors, and you keep getting better ones as you plan and follow through on your work-life trajectory. In other words, don't work for money, work to build a history of people who have trusted you. The more you're trusted, the more you'll get paid.

Have you tried networking? In situations like this it’s best to use your network. Set up informational interview and coffee dates. Share your search with others. Keep us posted on your search. Good luck!

You need to provide more detail on your situation. Are you a recent college grad? Are you using your school’s career office? Are you applying to internships to get some work experience? What is your line of work? Are you in a major city?
