Thriving in these unusual times.

I worked from home for over 20 years and in 2019, I returned to the traditional office. I really miss working from home lol I now work for a bank, so I am still required to work from the office. But here are some hopefully helpful suggestions for those of you feeling isolated that work for me. FYI Zoom can be your friend. Schedule Zoom lunch or dinner dates. Its a good way to share your meal and connect with coworkers or friends. Quit texting, which just makes you feel more isolated and hop on zoom or video chat. Take up a new how hobby. Its the perfect time to learn something new. You could even maybe turn that hobby into a side business. Lots of how to videos and classes online to learn just about everything. Just because you are stuck at home, doesn't mean you have to stop socializing. You can also use Zoom to play games with family and friends. I know it is not the same as seeing them in person, but for now, this is a healthier alternative. Think outside the box. Also, don't forget reading a good book is a great way to pass the time.

These are such good tips! I Zoomed with family friends for dinner and it almost felt like they were there - and each group got to eat what they wanted instead of sharing!

Move at home too - do some yoga, stretches, aerobics, or just walk around the house for 30 mins (I do 30 min circuits of my apartment with free weights every day). Helps with fitness and energy, and is good for your mood. Just like the gym!

Agree with all of this. One tip I share is to allow your personality to come through in meetings. People need to feel like they know the real you.

I love all of your suggestions, Darla M. I have been on social Zoom calls, and of course, work-related ones. I haven't yet tried having dinner on Zoom, but that's a fantastic idea, as is playing a game together over video. I have loved taking online classes during this time, and I'm also using Duolingo to brush up on my French language skills.
