I have worked for a independent franchise store associated with a major logistics company for over 1 1/2 years. It is family owned ... father, mother and 45+ year old son whom all live under the same roof. I feel continually marginalized by the family, particularly the mother and son whom exhibit on a daily basis gratuitous favoritism and outside communications habitually towards younger individuals, with an emphasis on a much younger male. It has become "in your face with no apologies" obvious at best. I am an older woman whom is not in a position to easily start over somewhere else, particularly in my small community. I am seeking other employment but the opportunities are narrow to slim. I am not taking the much less than professional management style personally as I do not go down the low road nor play games at my age, but it is a grind to go to work in this type of environment every day knowing how hard I work for the company with little recognition nor appreciation. I could take the don't care and don't work harder than necessary attitude but that is not my nature. Bottom line, it is exhausting and I know the realization that my personal and professional life skills and experience seems to be of no value any more. How nice it would be to find employment where individuals of my age are appreciated for their long time skills sets rather than their ability to text and play with their phones all day.
