Normal remote vs. crisis remote

If you've worked remotely before the coronavirus outbreak--and you're working remotely now--what's the biggest change you've noticed?

I think flexibility is key. None of us are used to this. Let the kids sleep late and do their homework later. I try to keep a routine, but not too rigid. My son is motivated to do school work early so he has time for video games. Letting him help create the routine helped.

Okay I have loved the balance but having my kids/hubby at home has been unearthing my wfh jam. In face of that, I have been practicing the art of let it go. Kids made a mess. Let it go. Kids sleeping in forever. Let it go. Kids bug me for food. Let it go. Now more than ever. Let it go.

What a great perspective! I don't have kids, but I've had to adopt a similar attitude regarding my partner while I try to conduct business as usual. And lately, it just isn't always business as usual--but that's ok. Let it go.

I was rarely allowed to wfh before this, but am home now. The biggest change for me is having to also juggle remote learning for my son. He has done well so far, but this morning was a struggle.

I have so much respect for all the parents working from home with their kids around. Best of luck with the balance during this transitional period.

Panic. It seems as if everyone wants everything urgently. So demand is much greater.

Agreed. Everyone seems to want to be seen as super productive. I suppose it's understandable with the economic downturn that we want to be invaluable, but we should be reminded to not overtax ourselves emotionally. Taking time to step away is important and was a typical part of my normal wfh day and was done without a second thought. Now, I have to remind myself to step away for a break and log off at a reasonable hour.
