Outdated career advice

What outdated career advice have you ever heard or received? Mine is to print out your resume and cover letter so you can apply for jobs in person. Everything these days is automated so we don't need to do that anymore, but also, I think that would work better for following up with an open position (not making your first impression on hiring managers).

IDK what's outdated but can share that three things that will modernize your search. 1. a recent photo on your LinkedIn profile 2. a 1-2 page resume with a headline that matches your LIn profile, but no objective or summary 3. a great pitch that you can adapt to both professional and personal social interactions

Anything having to do with phone calls! I don't think following up by phone is something recruiters or hiring managers really want to experience these days...maybe it would be different if you were working in sales but I feel like that's sort of a social faux pax nowadays.
