Weak nails

My nails have peeled for as long as I can remember. I keep them short for guitar but it's still a problem. Have you had positive experiences with biotin? Any nail hardener recommendations or even other remedies?? (Sadly, getting a manicure regularly isn't really an option)

Ladies: My nails used to be as thin as paper, then went to the health food store and bought Collagen. A spoonful of this tasteless powder in my coffee every morning, and after about three weeks, my nails are strong and thick!!! Just keep your hands out of dishwater, they'll break easily. I use red Carpet Nails "Structure" as clear Nail polish for insurance.

I take biotin And it has helped some, but my nails still flake. So i try to keep up w buffing and filing. One thing i will warn u about biotin is it affects all hair! So your hair on your head excellent! Other body hair be prepared lol

Have you tried taking biotin? My nails were always weak, but after I had fake nails removed it took an entire year for my nails to stop breaking and flaking. Then I started taking biotin and collagen, and whoa, now they grow so fast. I have to file them every week to keep them on the shorter side. Try it!

I have always had weak nails due to nail biting my whole life. I am now going through peri menopause and started to have thinning hair. I started taking Baby Mama hair repair vitamins and have seen a significant change in my hair and nails. I do not work for them just a loyal customer and wanting to recommend a great product.

I have seen an improvement after adding a biotin supplement as well as collagen to my smoothies. My diet is also high in fats and protein. And you might have to keep them short for a while until the full nail is replaced from the very beginning of the bed.

i actually heard that pre natal vitamins help strengthen nails. Haven't validated this yet though.

I have weak nails too. Gel manicures make them feel stronger until the polish comes off and then they are even worse! I take Ritual vitamins and that has helped. Also just getting sunshine helps (vitamin D maybe?)- my nails are always worse in the winter.

I used to have awful nails, split, peeling, thin, just no solution. Found a gel polish at Sally's Beauty supply called Red Carpet nails. Comes with a blue light thingy to cure the polish. I do my nails about every three weeks, and people remark on them constantly. I leave them clear without polish cause they grow so fast.

I've had similar problems and have had some good results with doing all of the following: 1) keeping hands moisturized, 2) using cuticle cream at least twice a day, 3) taking GNC's UltraNourishHair daily (no, I don't work for GNC :) ); and 4) using Gelous nail hardener (Sally Beauty sells it - I don't work for them, either) according to the directions. When I say all, I mean doing all of them together. It doesn't work, at least for me, to do one or two of them and not the others.
