Asked for 3 things before returning to work (covid related)

Yes, I am sick of hearing about Covid also, but here I am with my own story. My back went out and since we had a change in co-workers and I saw people were getting slack with covid safety measures, figured I would ask for three things before I came back (from pt and doctors). * People entering the building to already have masks on* * Air filter changed on schedule, depending on type of filter. * Mask-wearing in common areas where we all breathe the same air or walk through it before being dispersed enough to be safe, per the Public Health Order: “Ensure all employees have face coverings or masks and wear them in the workplace at all times when in the presence of others”  I gave this manifesto (there were a lot of talking points so my boss could answer any question coworkers threw at them) I won't post it unless someone asks me to. I went today after PT to give an already-written note of my update direct from doctor, but instead of using my key, I didn't want to walk in on anyone alone, so I knocked. Coworker answered door without a mask on. My place a of business? A Houseless/Homeless Resource center. One coworker has already had the virus, one of the first 5 in county. Chances are I will be out-numbered and be out of a job -lesson learned, I didn't have a signed contract, never forget that, no matter how much you love the people you work with, which I do, the manifesto said as much. I also relayed that covid is the community assailant, not each other. I would take a bullet for these people, even now, dismayed, disappointed, and probably out of the one time only dream job. I feel like I am being pushed out of a job for being proactive.

Yes, the highest, org manager. She has decided the work around is legal. Both the state and oscha are who I can report to but being I am the odd girl out, it would be obvious it was me. It's a small town. I told her while my back is out I'm turning my rv into a legal food truck (I'm sick of cutting corners and working around not getting variances and such. I'm trying to figure out how to tel her I am not stepping foot in that building to work my job, oh and my area is the furthest from the bathroom. I bought myself another month because I am still in physical therapy.

Hello Flour, I'm wondering if you could look into health regulations your place of work may be violating? With everything happening, I imagine the county or city you live in must have regulations for businesses to be able to operate during the pandemic. Otherwise, they could potentially shut them down. Have you tried taking this matter to any higher ups?

From what I heard, it sounds like they are trying to section me off so that they can go without a mask and don't have to deal with me. Which you'd think I would be thankful, but I just feel ostracized, because of following the PHO. Just disappointing after all the talks and agreements on policy since March and our people are not wearing masks, not setting a singular message to our clients. I prefer to have relationships with my co-workers and that's hard to do when it starts feeling discriminatory, if they don't want to deal with me, I will be miserable. The job is my social life, I love it so much, I love my coworkers so much.

@amanda, I have not yet been pushed out. Either at the board meeting next week the situation may be discussed but my ally says possibly not- she stopped working there for the same reason. Otherwise I will find out after the pt is over and I'm better, and I see if they are following rules. We have had three discussions about this and when I saw they weren't listening to my ally, even when I backed her up, it was doubtful I really mattered to the org then.

@flour were you already pushed out of the job? There was a podcast I listened to recently that said something along the lines of if you don't get the benefits and pay you are looking for its not a "dream job." I think that sentiment extends to this situation. If the workplace environment is encouraging of safety than its going to become a nightmare workplace where people are endangering others. This is easily said and I understand your reality may require you to stick around in this job and not speak up. Do what you need to do to feel safe and encourage safety. Maybe a manifesto isn't the way to go about it and instead encourage conversation. Do you have any allies?
