Maternity leave during a company buy out

My employer offers 12 weeks unpaid maternity leave. I am 15 weeks pregnant. Our company has been purchased by a larger company and open enrollment begins in early November and will begin in January 2019. I have contacted my HR department but they can not give me any information about the new maternity leave policy. If I report my pregnancy now and ask to take my leave near my delivery date, February 1, will the current policy be honored or will the new policy be implemented? My concern is the new policy may or may not be better than my current one. Thanks for your help.

Do you know why your HR department has no information about your maternity leave policy? Is it because the new policy is still being created? I would report my pregnancy now because I don't see the downside, unless I'm missing something. Remember that once they know about it, they can't "unknow" about it and I would just tell them that you're interested because you are pregnant and need to plan something out for your manager, yourself and your team. That way, regardless of what the end-result of the plan is, you can seem responsible and start advocating for yourself now , especially if the mat leave policy is less generous than what you were expecting.

Yes I was told they were waiting for the new policy information. Thanks for your input.
