What is your go-to interview outfit?

All black with some sort of 'statement piece' - leopard flats, a fun pair of earrings, or a great bag!

I stick to what I call my “Power Palette!” These are colors that I feel super confident wearing and also highlight my best features. I work in a creative industry where dress codes are not conservative, so my favorite professional piece is a gold blazer with black lapels and cuffs from Scotch & Soda. I feel like a rockstar when I wear it. I think I’m actually wearing it in my profile photo! ?

I love a good skirt and comfortable blouse. For me, it's always about the shoes! They're my favorite part of any outfit so I try and make sure they're my favorite part of my job interview outfit. I love wearing heels. They're like a built in power pose!

I have worked in several different industries, and so it is really dependent on the company and role. When I interviewed for an office admin role at a manufacturing company: skirt, blouse, jacket, flats. When I interviewed to be a system administrator: jeans, t-shirt, jean jacket, and Converses. No way I could have interviewed in jeans for the first, and while wearing a skirt for the second would have been okay, it might have made them question if I was a part of their culture, if you know what I mean. My sister was an HR Master for a number of years, and her advice was: If you are going for an in-person interview, and you want to be sure, call and speak to the receptionist. Explain you will be interviewing, and ask what the general dress of the office is because you want to make a good impression but not stand out in a negative way. Get their name and have a thank you card/note to leave for him/her on your way out - you can also send it later with the ones for your interviewers. Later, when you have the job, buy them a coffee/soda - today you could also do a gift card - and express your thanks again. Whoever is at reception may give or be asked their impression of you, so you want them to have a good one, and once you’re there “...it never hurts to have favor with reception.” ?

My go to is always a dress - but I do decide based on what I think the environment is like and my general mood the day of the interview. Weirdly enough, I think my hair style for the day is more indicative of confidence for me than what I'm wearing!

A blouse with the kind of pants that look dressy but are actually super comfortable. Because who wants to be uncomfortable in a job interview?

Dark pants, a casual top and an expensive-looking blazer that makes a statement. There's something about a casual outfit that's dressed up with a really nice blazer (that you can dress up or down)... I'm all for it.

I don't know why but wearing all black with colorful shoes makes me feel powerful. Maybe this isn't for everyone but it gives me a little confidence boost!
