How much do you talk to your kids about your work and career?

I've always been one to bring my work home in the sense of doing it at home, on vacations (obviously not trying to do a lot of it then), etc and therefore I felt that my son should always understand as much as was age-appropriate about my job. Now that he's 14, I feel like he's ready to understand more and more and sometimes I talk about work at the dinner table. But recently I started second-guessing whether I should be open about all the work drama with him. How much do you share about your job at work?

Sharing your work thing with your kids is not bad as long as it doesn't sound depressing . They should know what their mom is doing at work, your role as a job, challenges you take up and yes, of course, some failure stories with rising up attitude. This can be like an exercise, you ask your kids about their day and you tell yours. This should be more like a sharing thing and not like venting out routine for a kid to digest at the dinner table, office dramas should be kept away, unless entertaining.

Good point. I should really try to control the venting and treat it like mutual sharing and the kind of sharing I'd like him to contribute at the dinner table...sometimes maintaining self control is hard because I'm the type that typically vents to feel better. But I'll try to do better by my son!
