How do I find the right company for me?

My thoughts/My question is.. I know what I want to do in life .. for instance, I want to help others and work with a company that gives back. Nonprofit, I want to work with say fair trade, sustainable companies. I also have numerous causes I want to work for /or with like the ocean, saving dogs/animals, environment, wellness, etc. I’ve been in sales my whole life -and love working trade shows, traveling and fundraising... how do I go about narrowing down where to look and finding the right companies I want to work with??? How do I get my resume to stand out?? Thank you

You said that you had been in sales your whole life, what type? It might be a great fit for the fair trade or sustainable companies immediately. Volunteering always gets a foot in the door, gives you lots of training and is just great for yout soul. That was how I found my passion for nonprofit work. Also, check local community colleges. Some offer classes in grant-writing and other skills that are desperately needed by nonprofits.

Your background would be ideal for a major gift officer at a nonprofit!

Instead of viewing it as a challenge to narrow down the list of companies that have a social mission or aspect, you should consider yourself lucky that there are so many choices in front of you given that most of these organizations and companies will need salespeople! Good luck, and try to enjoy the job search.

Hi Kelly, you can research tons of companies on Fairygodboss to get a sense of their company culture, benefits, etc. (there's also a top-rated companies for women list: https://fairygodboss.com/best-companies-for-women ) ...you can also find companies that have great social missions here: https://fairygodboss.com/articles/gifts-for-women-who-want-to-give-back-to-other-women ...in terms of your resume, make sure it's concise (1 page only) with punchy verbs and zero typos. Have a few people proofread it to ensure it's error free!
