I had a job interview last Wednesday that went well. I was told that they were looking to make a decision by Friday. Afterwards, I sent a follow up thank you e-mail. On Friday, the interviewer responded and asked me 8-10 additional questions, and she also let me know that they org. had narrowed it down to me and another candidate so I was feeling pretty good about the opportunity.
On Monday, I received another e-mail from the interviewer asking if I had availability on Tues. or Wed. for a phone call. I received a call from the interviewer Tuesday thanking me for the responses and asking me for 3 references. I provided the references and let each of them know to expect a call.
After speaking with my references, they were all asked to also provide a written reference. Is it normal to provide a verbal and written reference? Why would this be necessary? At this point, I feel like the organization is stalling. The process has taken longer then they stated. And I understand wanting to get the right candidate and fit for the organization, but this seems a bit obsessive. It's not a government position. It just seems that the interview team may be a little inexperienced in interviewing or unable to make a decision.
