Senior Executive getting rejected left and right...

I am currently unemployed. Happened at the beginning of the pandemic. I have been remote/WFH for many, many years. I am willing to travel. There are companies that are advertising that they are hiring now, even with all things COVID-19 happening BUT none of the recruiters representing them return any messages. Is anyone else experiencing this? I don't need a career coach. Been there, done that. I did have 2 offers go on permanent hold because of how the pandemic is causing turmoil for the economy. To hold me over financially, I have even applied to cashier roles locally; WFH customer service/help desk; consulting from home, etc. Getting nowhere other than broke, quickly. I have a family of four and because of my stress level, I feel like I am missing something that maybe someone else could offer advice on. I have been the VP: the manager: the IC: the designer: the biologist: the PM: the senior director: the implementation expert: etc. Thoughts?

I'm in the exact same boat. Fully qualified for the positions applied for in the last 6 months. I've had two interviews; one I didn't get and the other is in hold due to the virus. I'm very professional, dress conservatively professional in interviews. I've applied at grocery stores, Amazon, drug stores, just anything I remotely qualify for..... nothing. No response at all. In all honesty I think it had to do with my age. It's very discouraging. Thank God my landlord is working with me for now because I've used all of my savings and world otherwise be in the street. I've had to cut off everything non- essential, food is sometimes scarce, and now my latest unemployment payment hasn't arrived. Prayers are what get me through the rough times.

It's unfortunate that we all find ourselves in good company right now...job searching is hard enough in the best of circumstances. I started my search for a new opportunity last October while still employed and good thing I did because I was laid off as of Jan 3. I was not at all concerned because the following week I had final interviews at 3 companies scheduled in Seattle (Amazon flew me out there). Based on prior conversations, I was fully expecting an offer from one of the companies but they have been stringing me along since then with the job still posted. They are looking for someone who doesn't exist I'm afraid... I currently have 2 opportunities in late stages, but they've slowed to a standstill after the last set of interviews. I'm continuing to take advantage of the time doing more training and development work to stay current and engaged. I just checked my spreadsheet and since mid October here are my numbers: 281 positions applied for 22 positions where I've had at least a phone interview 7 positions where I've had in person interviews 122 standard rejection emails 24 days average response time for those emails 94 positions with no response (application date 45+ days ago) 37 positions with no response (application <45 days ago) I am still confident I am going to land in a good spot at some point, but this is no easy gig. Wish I had some good advice to share other than be persistent and stay engaged. Feel free to connect with me on Linked in - whe should all help each other where we can! www.linkedin.com/in/jennotool

Looking for Costing opportunity

I am having the same problem! I resigned from my position right before the outbreak hit, had one offer and everything has gone silent. It's so frustrating. I have some recruiters calling me but they don't have anything with regards to positions, or I don't hear back after they tell me that I'd be perfect for a role they have. Don't understand what is going on....

I have been out of my job since November. I have been rejected over 30 times now. I apply to more than 10 jobs weekly, and I network like mad. I am working to put together a consulting practice like I did before. I am open to representing the skills of other women. Contact me for more info.

Many of us are in the same boat. Patience, faith and hope. I know meditation and attending Zoom Meetings on learning new things is helping.

Certified career coach; branding, strategy focus

As a career coach, I've leveraged my years of experience into an online course that I'm offering for free right now. Funny, I posted it on LinkedIn and only 1 person saw it from my network of almost 3000. Looking for a job under the best of circumstances is challenging. Right now, those feelings of overwhelm are doubled. It’s difficult to focus on anything other than the news unfolding, yet it’s now more important than ever to shift your attention to your mindset. If setting professional goals around your job search is challenging, I can offer some help. Right now, I’m waiving the $197.00 cost and offering my online video course, Bridging the Career Gap, for free. Click here to sign up: https://lnkd.in/gWZcbzD This 6 lesson course leads you from mindset to process to the nuts and bolts of resume and LinkedIn. It’s self-paced, perfect for working on 30 minutes a day before the kids get up, or wherever it fits on your calendar. With everything happening, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of fear and uncertainty. Yet but harnessing your attention and focusing on what you can do during this challenging time, you’ll stay more positive and productive while we ride out this storm. Wishing you health and wellness, Elizabeth

Wow, on one hand it’s comforting to see so many of us going through something similar. But it’s tragic. I left my NYC job because I moved to Austin and was seeing traction the first 2 weeks of March. All was to be ok if it took me a few weeks/months to sort it out. But my partner was laid off this week due to covid-19 so now we are in a tough spot. I have 10 years of digital marketing and brand building and content development experience. Always been a go-getter and undeterred. All leads have dried up and it’s been so challenging mentally as well. I wish you all strength and peace and I hope I find the same.

hello everyone, i hope you are doing well , staying sane in this crazy time.. I feel your pain. I have a similar story. 15 years of Tech Management experience and cant even get a first interview. My experience with recruiters hasn't been great. Few things I have learned, if you didn't know already; 1) Linkedin update, good title, summary focus on key/transferable skill sets.. 2) Reach out to your network. It is the best way to get in, especially in this horrible situation 3) There are few people I follow on LinkedIn seem to give good advice, so find similar people to follow. Good Luck ! sending you lots virtual support..
