If you need to get out of your current toxic job...

If there's anything I've learned about working in communications, it's that you need to get out "before the snake bites you." Be so protective of yourself that everyone will be shocked that you leave. I have been screwed over by MULTIPLE bosses because I "did all the right things" and had that "just push through it" mentality. I hoped that by sucking up to them, that I would get my job to be the way I was envisioning it to be. It wasn't and I got fired for things out of my control. The people who joined after me joined very shortly after starting there. I knew I wasn't crazy, but I wasn't happy knowing that I should have gotten out of there sooner. If you feel like you need to leave, odds are that you do. If you can, I would move in with a friend or some family so your finances aren't royally screwed from quitting a job. Save up and have a part time gig lined up so you are not hurting as bad when you leave. Trust me, that anxious feeling you have every day will be LONG GONE the day that you leave. You are in control of your career, just remember that.

Agreed. The drawbacks of leaving are much less than the drawbacks of staying. Toxic environments not only affect how you do your job, they also affect your physical and mental health as well as your relationships outside of work. That gut feeling serves you well for a variety of reasons. If it doesn't feel right, it likely isn't.
