I've been in my current management role for 3 years and I'm leading a very successful team. My Director just tapped me to take on a different team in a different division - one that is failing. He says this will be a great visibility play for me once I can get that team succeeding, but I don't want to do it.
I work in the kind of culture that if you are tapped for something, you are supposed to feel lucky and jump at the chance to do it. People in the past that have been tapped for things and didn't oblige, well, that was the last time they were tapped for a new opportunity.
I am happy where I'm at and I don't want to change divisions or teams, but I also don't want this to be career suicide at my company.
What are my options here?
