Do you consider yourself to be a Brand?

I had Starbucks this morning. I had to stop and think “ what do you have in common with Starbucks“? You are both a brand. Don’t think you have a personal brand? Of course you do! Everyone has a brand, whether they want to have one or not. I believe that the stronger your personal brand, the better chance you have at demonstrating your value to employers, getting paid more, getting more opportunities, etc. So, what’s the first step in building it up? Identify your strengths; the unique things that YOU bring to the table. Start by writing a list. You can use this list to update your resume, your personal website, and/or any other profiles!

I agree! I think having a brand gives you clarity on your unique skills and strengths as well as makes it easy for you to talk about what you do in a way that gets others head nodding.

I also love the consistency of the message that you recommend in your post, for example -- using the brand across resume, profile and personal website.

That is so true and I also always prefer to call my strengths my "USPs", you are managing and marketing yourself from the very first time you have applied to something, so you should keep it professional on this! I can also highly recommend the podcasts "chief HustlHER" in this relation which I actually found here on one of the posts!

I love this! I always write down what I want to be known for at the start of each year. I find it helps being confident in decision making when I know my decisions align with how I want to be known.
