Soup all Year Round?

Where are my other soup/stew lovers? Do you eat soup all year round or do you avoid it during the summer/hotter months? I find that every now and then, I'll crave something very hearty or a broth with full-bodied flavor, even in the summer months. Was just wondering about the rest of you!

I'll be making soup tonight! My husband made a bone broth and now we have some leftover corn from yesterday, so I'll be working with those ingredients, fresh herbs, and a few other staples.

I am a year round soup eater as well. At the moment, I am making many blended soups, such as butternut squash. But I also love Italian Wedding Soup in the summer. Nice bright flavor, and tastes good warm as opposed to hot.

Thank you for the responses so far! The idea of cold soups totally slipped my mind, and I do like the idea of cooking and eating with an eye on the ingredients that are in season. I don't always follow that myself, but good to pay attention to.

I eat soup and stew all year round. I have never ate certain items according to season. We were never brought up that way. Soup in itself is a light weight meal depending on what type of soup it is. As for stew, you make it in your crock pot you are not heating up your kitchen all day and you still are getting the same meal as if you were having hamburgers and corn on the cob. As long as you have a nutritious meal regardless if it is considered a "winter" or "summer" meal and you like it and are hungry for it, enjoy and don't worry about whether it is the right time of the year.

Soup is never a bad idea. Especially broccoli and cheese soup... I don't care how hot it is.

I love soup year round. Lighter warm soups and cold soups are wonderful, eg veggie or broth soups. Gazpacho comes to mind for a cold summer soup. This can be tomato or squash based. Kale and sausage with a chicken broth is a delicious warm soup. Chicken or beef tortilla soup is also yummy. My acupuncturist recommends warm food in the summer as it promotes digestion along with drinking room temperature water. Cold beverages actually slow down your digestion. It may seem counter intuitive to eat warm food when it is hot but it doesn't make a difference in your body temperature if you want to cool down on a hot summer day. The heaviness of the food can be a bigger factor to enjoying soup.

There are cold soups you can enjoy in the summer. I tend to steer clear of soups in the summer because most of the ingredients in soups are seasonal.
