Switching to web development

I have taken every job I’ve ever had up to now due to survival. I want to break the cycle, and I want to land my dream job as a web developer. I’m in burnout, so it’s difficult, but I’m working on code as much as I can. It’s hard to explain the confidence struggle that happens when you work at jobs you didn’t seek out for too long, and that are so against your natural curiosities and inclinations; it just starts feeling so impossible to imagine a real shift, and it feels heavy. But, I’m glad this community exists, I just joined and I’m rooting for everyone to succeed!!

You're in the right place! I hope you gain as much support as you are generously give. I'm sure you will. I spend my days coaching people who have felt stuck at a career crossroads and know they can't afford not to make it to the right side of a transition they need to thrive. For some, we need to go all the way back before we can go forwards to realign work they will love with the life they wish they were living. But you already have that certainty. And i love that you're doing everything possible to immerse yourself in that ever more. I'd suggest tying your hopes to reality next. That way there's nothing passive about waiting to see if your hoped-for career context comes about or not. It's up to you and you know it. So, get very specific about this What Next. And how you would get there. But also, what would block your path along the way? How could you navigate those obstacles that show up? Then you're equipped to really drive towards your hoped for future with grit and determination to match your curiosity and hope. i created a `hope map' for my own audience a little while ago. It's taken inspiration from Hope Therapy actually and it's a tool i find incredibly helpful for people who have the goal nicely defined and feel an energy about what they're doing to achieve it...but perhaps don't own the outcome as much as they might. I hope it helps you too! https://mailchi.mp/f87f8011f85a/heres-hope-the-right-way

Visualize yourself there every morning and whenever you feels frustrated with where you are now. Keep daydreaming that image and if any resistant thoughts come up put them in a balloon and release them. Feel the feeling of how it feels when you are there! That is the energy point you need to be at to attract everything to make it happen! I have done this and have turned my life around into exactly what I wanted it to be!

I feel this LOL. I worked in the food industry for about 9.5 years and for more than half of that I wanted to make the switch to tech. As each day/month/year passes you just start to lose more and more confidence that you can actually pull the switch off and start to think that maybe you're just meant to stay stagnant in that place. But we aren't! It's so hard some days but we just have to remember how many other people are in the same cycle and if we can break it, maybe we can show them that they can, too. You got this!

Hey! Best of luck here. I made an industry transition fairly early on in my career, and then again to focus on a specific part of my current industry. It's tough, but totally worth it to get into the industry you want to be in!
