Yes! Everything Melissa said! Have some chats so you feel 100% comfortable with whatever path you take. In regards to your resume - my stance is that if you're getting interviews, your resume is working. There is always an opportunity for improvements, but the main job of this document is to get you in the door. That being said, it becomes secondary if you are being referred in by someone in your network.

Thank you yes and it does I'm just on the fence about it because I have people who per say can do your resume and help you assist you through it and supposedly they claim that going through them majority of the resumes gets into the pot top and most of them get job offers and on the other aspect the career coaches kind of insinuate the same thing I also do like a meet and greet kind of thing to feel you out to see what you're looking for kind of thing and give you your feedback if that makes sense because on my end I am trying to debate rather if I want to engage in a personal career coach or get someone to personally do my resume like a freelancer or something however I am not sure and in return I guess what I'm looking for more is if my resume is good enough or do you want to do need somebody to do that for me I hope I'm making sense now LOL

Yes I hear you!! You want to put your best foot forward. Alyson made a great comment below. If you're getting interviews, your resume is working. The job of your resume is to get you an interview - that's it. It won't get you hired. So if you feel like your not getting enough interviews, then certainly get it rewritten. That's transactional so that's an easy step. Again, for them to say that their resumes will get to you hired is a stretch. There is a LOT that happens between the application and the job offer. Now for a career coach, what problem would they solve for you? How would a coach fill a gap for you?? - are you looking for a career change? - do you not know how to apply / sell yourself - do you lack confidence - do you want the ability to negotiate your salary when the offer comes - do you want to know how to answer key questions What would a coach solve for you?

I'm personally a huge advocate of coaches (although I am biased because I am one focusing on salary negotiation and driving your own job promotions haha). There is a huge trust factor involved in coaching. Keep in mind that coaching isn't about doing it FOR YOU. it's about guiding you through a process and educating you through the the process. Coaches should be able to give some "tough love" and call you out where necessary (professionally, of course). If someone is guarantees they will get you hired, that's a tough accomplishment because they are making a guarantee based on something outside of their control. I would be hesitant if someone is advertising that. From what you are asking for (standing out in interviews, etc) it sounds like you want more training vs. Coaching. For example, when I COACH my clients on salary negotiations or putting a proposal together for a job promotion, I ask lots of questions to solicit thought, get them talking, prob their response to collect information and then take that info to help them strategize. But they are doing the work. I am more of a facilitator of the process. However when I conduct TRAINING, there are lessons and practices and it is less interactive but based on skill refinement. But in terms of finding someone, focus on what YOU want to accomplish, what you NEED out of them and then develop some questions to determine if they meet those needs. I hope some of this helps get your process going :) Melissa The Liberated Tribe
