Public vs Private vs Home-School

Eliminating the cost between these options, where do you prefer your children to receive their early education from and why?

My kids go to a very high rated public school, however, if money were not a concern, I would send them to private school. I want them to have the best education they can get, in a place where kids are excited to learn, and the school has funding for sports, arts, and other programs. I would never consider home schooling, and don't see any benefits to it, unless your child would be in danger or severely bullied at public school.

The most important thing for me when it comes to my kids' school options - what's the degree of education and personalized attention they will get while still being exposed to social settings. Home-schooling was never an option for us as I enjoy working and I wouldn't be the best teacher of academics to my kids, plus social interaction is critical. When we lived in Minneapolis, we knew our kids would have to go to a private school considering school ratings in the area. However, since we moved to suburbs the kids are going to a public school, because the school system is great.

I preferred public school for my daughter. It's the most diverse. Public school is too elitist (based on my perception) and, although we have a lot of home-schooled kids at our church, I didn't think that was the best choice for us. Again, the diversity wasn't there. I wanted her to be exposed to different races, economic, cultural, and social kids and famillies. To me, that's more "real-world" than private or home-school. The quality of teachers and curiculum was just as important. We were blessed to have a great public school system!
