Science: What's in demand or projected to be?

I'm currently working on a transfer degree in Biochemistry, only in my first year. After I earn my AS-T, I originally wanted to transfer to Bastyr University to earn a bachelor's in Herbal Sciences. The catch is I am always second guessing, because I just love all science and I'm obsessed with learning. I would just go to school the rest of my life if I could. I know, crazy. I wonder if going to Uni of WA would be a better choice to transfer to. I do worry about earning a good income after school and I want to balance my passions with what specific fields are in demand or that make a good amount of money. I'm super into biology and chemistry, and many forms of alternative healing. Also I'm into physics and would really love to find a position or field ( or create one) where the hard sciences converge with the energy/esoteric/etheric fields. Not even sure if that makes sense!! I'd love some suggestions of where not to end up, what fields are in demand or will be in the next 5 years or so. Thanks for any insights you might have!

Hi! I'm a Biochemistry major - and I explored alternative medicine by attending Chiropractic college before I realized I was more passionate about the lab (and small molecules and quantitative chemistry!) and that re-directed me back to finish my Bachelors in Biochemistry. I've worked in the Biotech field and let me tell you - you will find ALL disciplines of science to engage in at the right company. I would say, if you want to work in industry, you'll want a very concrete degree. Biochemistry B.S, Chemistry B.S, Microbio, etc. Look at the industries you're interested in and the job postings - see what degrees they are requiring. The three I listed are the most I see. You will always have opportunities to learn outside of your degree, so don't feel like you're stuck to only learn what your degree is in. I ended up HATING biochemistry. I really loved instrumental analysis and analytical chemistry! So I focused on my electives for that and got my degree in Biochemistry because it was the most diverse exposure to science and would take me many places (med school, grad school, industry). Have you taken a Physical Chemistry course yet? That's where physics and chemistry really collide... I bet you'll love that one. Keep up the hard work!
