Meeting Alternatives

I found this article from The Muse regarding alternatives to meetings interesting. My favorite is the Online Whiteboard. Silence in a video conference is fraught. I can also see the value in hosting an Online Whiteboard for brainstorming as being helpful even in the After Time. In a previous job, I worked in an office that had a HUGE white board. Our division director would pose different topics or questions and we could write our contributions in a dry erase marker. At the monthly staff meeting, we would digest all the collections. I think this online version is even better because, depending on the technology, it could accessible when away from the board, like at lunch with your colleagues (sigh). It is liberating to have this chance in our career to question our practices. I have started a list of practices/behaviors to keep in the After Times and many items in this article are being added. https://www.themuse.com/advice/video-meeting-alternatives-combat-zoom-fatigue?sc_src=email_624668&sc_lid=39061298&sc_uid=9s7EY4MUOi&sc_llid=149264&sc_eh=c6ea3f7aa60155f61&utm_source=emarsys&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=daily_20201028_NoSpon_624668&utm_content=sponsored&utm_term=_&uid=708530885

Get on the [Slack] phone! When confusion abounds in a text chat or an email chain gets too long, I love the Slack call option. It doesn't use my personal phone, it's easy to launch and it's understood that video is not necessary (at my company, Zoom usually means video).

This is fantastic! Thank you for sharing! It looks like it would be a great way to engage those in a group who are normally quiet during meetings too!
