Small at-home workout equipment advice.

I recently moved into a new space where I’m not as close to a gym and looking for at-home workout products that work — but don’t take up too much space. As for workouts, I love cardio but know I need to work more on my muscles to keep my body and bones happy and healthy. Thanks for the advice in advance!

all great ideas! if you're really strapped you can use wine bottles or cans as weights. I recommend the Nike training app, they have so many workouts on there, without or with equipment, plus you can customize them to certain muscle groups and they range from 3 mins - an hour - your choice! been great for indoor, and outdoor workouts :)

I have a pair of 5lb hand weights, an 8lb weight, and a yoga mat, and that does me just fine when I don't want to put on people clothes to go to the gym. Even if you're trying to bulk up (high weight, low rep), it's always good to aim for some workouts that go low weight, high rep in order to increase your endurance. Days you wanna hit the gym, you can do whatever, days you wanna stay home, you can focus on endurance training! Also, consider, as others have said, no equipment at all! Body weight exercises are a great way to stay in shape, and can be even more effective than using equipment!

I noticed doing cardio videos(80s Kathy smith) with wrist weights/light ankle weights are very beneficial. not only are they fun, the music brings back the good old days and they are still very affective. you can also try (walk away the pounds the weeks addition)Leslie Samson where there's a different workout for every day of the week with resistant bands and hand size ball weights.

I second the kettlebell idea. Personally, I've gotten a lot of tone using a 20 lb plate (which I got for $3 at a garage sale) and these workouts: https://www.self.com/gallery/tone-every-muscle-weight-plate-routine-slideshow

Garage sales are the best. Thanks for the rec!

One kettlebell can give you a ton of workout options and really help build muscle and they don't take up toooo much space.

Resistance bands! They are cheap, easy to travel with, and you can do a ton with them. I found some on Amazon that were only about $10.

I sometimes find that you don't necessarily need equipment but a nice high intensity routine. That said all my friend rave about Peloton.
