I have a new job that requires me to work most weekends...

... and I can never get stuff around the house done! I am working 7 days a week right now, and I have no idea how to come home and do anything but sit like a blob. I am so exhausted. I'm lucky if I make myself dinner. And it looks like this is what my life will be like for a while. Anyone who's able to make themselves work after work when work never stops?

do you think this has to do with the fact that you're new at the job? I often feel like when I first start a job, I'm so eager to prove myself and want to say yes to everything. After 6 months or so, though, I tend to feel more secure, get better at delegating, and get better at being proactive if I'm on the verge of burnout. If you don't envision things getting better, though, maybe you should reassess in several months or so whether this is really the right job for you. In my opinion, all of this also really has to do with how much you like the job other than the volume of work that you have. If you love it, try to work with your manager to make some adjustments so you can remain productive and energized (and have a life!) good luck!

Also: don’t be afraid to push back! It’s ok to draw the line.
