Working out at lunch

Does anyone work out on their lunch break? What do you do? I'd like to give this a try, but I'm worried about scheduling a class or something in case something comes up and I can't work out that day. At the same time, my gym is too far from the office to make it there and back, so I'm not sure there's an alternative. Wondering what everyone else who has this habit does

I do a CrossFit workout everyday at lunch. If you can find a gym close by, the workouts are 1 hour, instructor lead, always start and finish on time. The best part is that you don’t have to think about anything. Just show up and they take care of the rest. I block out the hour in my calendar. My co-workers know they can book over it for anything important. I usually get there 3-4 days a week.

When I worked in SOMA in SF, I used to run Embarcadero at lunch time. It was such a good way to ensure I actually take a break. Are there other gyms closer to your office? Or maybe a class pass membership, where you could find some classes to do on lunch? If I wanted to build this into my own schedule, I would pick a day of the week and commit to trying it for a month. Let us know how it goes!

When I worked in an office, we were close to a neighborhood with sidewalks, so I just walked the neighborhood for an hour. Our traffic team also had a hand weight set in their office. A few of us would take lunch together and do a little light lifting. Some of us also kept lighter weights at our desks and a did little work while files opened or whatever...

I have a Y around the corner and regularly go walk on the treadmill for a half- hour - not enough to make me super sweaty, but enough to wake me up for the rest of the afternoon. I typically eat a small lunch at my desk at 11 so I'm not starving - perhaps you could walk in the area around your building, and see how that goes?

I've never been able to do this- I'm usually too hungry by lunch time to even think about engaging in any physical activity. I'm okay with a post-lunch walk but I wouldn't be able to do a class before lunch, unfortunately.
