I work in AV, just started a new job, and I already knew how few women there are in my industry. It's a lot of physical labor mixed with job specific knowledge. I just don't think it really hit me until now. When I went to training there was one other female in a room of 20+ guys as new hires, and one female trainer out of another 5+ guys. This didn't bother me until I went to my first large gig and I was LITERALLY the only woman in the room. I'm 19 and I hold up pretty well against even my older colleagues but it feels like I need to put in double the effort to get my foot in the door and for people to realize I'm actually going to pull my weight and then some. Any advice on how to stay calm when you're the odd woman out?
