Natural remedies

Do you believe in things like turmeric, ginger, etc. as cures or preventative medicine? What natural remedies do you use and what does it cure or prevent?

Yes! I am an advocate for natural meds. I regularly exercise, try to get ample amount if sleep and take raw honey and veggies. Elderberry too helps build immunity.

I am a huge fan of natural methods of preventive care, but it isn't effective to use as an absolute cure for major issues, in most cases. Most remedies are very effective in high doses and when used in conjunction with traditional medicine to offset side-effects of major problems, but you shouldn't use Dr. Google and self-diagnose (go see a natural path practitioner that can figure out what your body is actually missing). That being said, and back to my original comment: preventive care is key. Inflammation is a big culprit in our body's response system and it is what eventually leads us to cancers and worsening issues all-around. There are tons of food items that bring this down that you can make a part of your regular diet, but one supplement I LOVE more than most is Chlorophyll. It isn't a trendy supplement because it does SO much! Depending on how I am feeling, I can increase my dose without cause for overdose alarm and it can actually ease an upset stomach or back pain, and that's just for fast physical relief. I puncture a pill when I cut myself and use it to help heal without scarring (while also taking down pain). When taken regularly you can actually curb body odors (no kidding-- breath to armpit stink). It is great for blood cell production and even staving off white hair growth (anti-aging!). In short- this can be used for vascular health, and immune response, so it is a holy grail in my mind. The problem with this supplement is it is hard to find a pure form that doesn't add a lot of sugar or extras, which just counteract positive effects. It can be taken in liquids or pill form. I used to take a couple shots of wheatgrass a day from Jamba Juice, but it wasn't really enough, and it isn't always practical. I found a pretty great company called Standard Process, and their ingredients are clean and the pills are in "pearl" form, which means you can puncture it for liquid use on cuts or burns, and actually chew a few for faster relief of pain. It doesn't taste bad and if you are used to drinking "green juices" you will like it. Google it's benefits and you may never go back :)

Absolutely... BUT it all depends on the quality of the product/supplement and the underlying health condition.

Peppermint oil on your temples or behind your ears is soothing for migraines and headaches.

Yes, I believe that we have everything we need on this earth to help maintain our bodies. When you add alcohol, refined carbs and sugar, packaged/processed foods, high sodium, and bad oils to your diet, you may throw your body into a less than optimal state which may make it harder to function. Prior to utilizing natural remedies, I think removing the aforementioned from our diets can help our bodies return to normal processing and function thereby allowing nutrients in Ginger and Turmeric to be more effective. Drinking water, walking/exercising, sleeping, limiting blue lights, are all things we can do to help the natural foods help us from within.

I agree with Courtney on the ginger. When I was a kid, my mom had us drink a few drops of peppermint oil in water if our stomachs were upset and it usually worked, too. Garlic is a natural antibiotic so including it in your diet regularly can support your immune system.

Ginger shot for an upset stomach works wonders! It is pretty intensely spicy your first time, but you get use to it. You can order these at most juice/smoothie shops.
