Engagement gift ideas?

I have an engagement party coming up and am relatively new to the wedding scene. What are some of the best engagement gifts you've given/received?

Not technically Cher, but basically Cher.

I did this for a wedding and not an engagement (are engagement gifts seriously expected on top of wedding presents....?? I suck at this), but it was a big hit! Made a custom terrarium with a little bride and groom inside, as well as a tiny replica of their dog. I paid to have this done professionally, but you could probably DIY it and order the figurines off of Etsy for not a ton of money.

Agreed - cash or a gift card are always welcome as gifts. I am engaged now and getting married in February. But, if you want to get a physical gift, some monogrammed wine glasses or a fun engaged picture frame are fun! A ring dish for the bride to be is also a really thoughtful gift and something they probably wouldn't by themselves!

A lot of new couples have been doing a registry where people can make payments to their honeymoon which I think is such a fun idea! If not I think money is great because then they can use it however they see fit!

Do they have a registry? If not, I always do cash or a gift card, mostly because I just feel like it helps them with the things they actually need vs. getting dish sets they may not actually want if they aren't registered yet.
