Work from home / flexible employer

I'm curious how many of you ladies work from home or have a boss / employer that is very flexible (let's you leave as you need to).

I am very rarely allowed to work from home, which I find absolutely ridiculous because apart from one meeting per week, there's no reason for me to be there. We sit silently at our computers all day and communicate via email. Plus, my office has nothing that makes me want to be there. No break room, no snacks, not even proper lighting. Never any office-wide meetings. My employer even makes a big deal if someone needs to leave an hour early sometimes, even if we're done with work. Obviously I am trying to leave, haha.

HAHAH Ya, I can understand that. It sounds like your employer is a bit behind the times :)

Ours is very department/manager specific. My previous boss was fine with it, new boss has t really made it clear, he is new to the company and I think unsure what is acceptable. I continue to WFH when I can, usually 1x a week because commute to our office is very hard and other days as needed. I encourage my staff to WFH but they are longer term employees than I am and feel tied to their desks otherwise they think they are viewed as under-performers. Salary employees can come and go as they need for personal reasons in most departments.

My employer doesn't have a work from home policy, although, it depends on the head of the department. I work in sports so we don't work normal hours as it is, so some people who travel during the week/weekend may get the opportunity to work from home. However, I've been in a situation where a flight I was on got delayed and I landed at 7am. I chose to work from home and then later had to take a day of PTO due to not getting this approved ahead of time.

Really? That's too bad that you needed to take a paid day because you worked from home (worked being the operative word here haha)
