Interviews are strange now
Just wanted to vent, especially over an interview I had yesterday. I am completely qualified for the job. I met with who would be my direct report, and he proceeded to tell me how "all over the place" he is. Next, he said there would be little to no training as he has no time, and I would have to figure things out by past paperwork. He also added that he wasn't going to do my job and does not hesitate to fire. Not sure if I even completed 2 sentences. Maybe this guy was having a bad day, but I wouldn't consider working there after that. At least he was honest, lol. Thanks for listening.

Interviews are indeed strange, and I can attest to that! I had a very similar interview some months ago. The interviewer unashamedly told me that he wasn't sure how long I would be employed, if I received payment on time, and he emphasized that I could get fired anytime. I immediately refused to have anything to do with that company. Red flags everywhere, no thank you!

Just remember that interviews are just as much about you interviewing them as they are interviewing you. If it doesn’t feel like it would be a good fit, I would walk away rather than invest time, energy, etc. into something I don’t think will work.
I just had the same thing happen to me yesterday. It was my third interview (via zoom) this time with the hiring manager and he acted like he didn’t want to be there, he was not prepared and he was super negative about HR in general….so that’s a no for me. Lol
