I have a good job working as a Product Developer. I've been at this job for just under two years now and I started right after graduating from grad school. The work is fine, and some days I really enjoy it. However, I can not stand the owner of the company. I work directly with him on a daily basis, and travel with him frequently. This sometimes requires me to be with him all day for 1-2 weeks on end. Since COVID, I have found myself relieved that I do not have to travel with him and dreading the day we have to go on trips together again. He keeps talking about all of the international trips we will be taking next year and it makes my stomach churn.
The reason I can't stand him is not necessarily his management style- it's his personality. He is selfish, elitist, and rude. As a quick example, yesterday he told me he doesn't care about health care workers or people in nursing homes, he wants the vaccine first so that he can travel again. He makes fun of people, belittles people, and gets incredibly personal. It's just comments like this that really drive me insane.
It's a good job and right now is not a great time to jump ship. However, I've been grinning and bearing it for almost 2 years now and I don't know how much longer I can take.
