How do you open a conversation/send an email to someone who does the job you want to ask how they got there?
Hi all, I work in Coms so you might think it's alittle odd asking for help communicating but it's tricky when it comes doing something for me rather than the business I work in!
So here I am asking the collective intelligence that I regularly see on FGB for help in reaching out to strangers - networking online.
I want to move into stress management/resilience training and return to work coaching. I want to offer training in workplaces and help individuals create selfcare plans. I also want to act as a return to work coach for those who have had to take time out due to stress or burnout.
Why? because when it happened to me, there was no support around and my employer didn't do so well at the return to work thing.
I can't decide whether to do a qualification in counselling or coaching, or if I need to do both which to start with. I know there are others providing this service so I want to approach them and ask how they got there and what advice they would give someone who wants to get there too.
What I need help with
I don't want to blow the fledgling relationships with those I have met at conference who are in this arena by sending some dumb introduction/what should I do email.
I bet there is a great (flattering) way to approach people you don't know to ask them to share their journey and thoughts on routes but I don't know how to do it.
Would be grateful for any tips you might have on how to approach those who are already in a role you want on how to get there.
Thanks in advance, Tracey
